new music – “market value” original score

Hello! I’ve just released the soundtrack album for the feature film, “Market Value.” This heartbreaking story of a woman fighting to save her family from the consequences of her choices, screened to great acclaim at several North American film festivals. The score was originally intended to be a piano-based one, but – through a series of collaborative scoring sessions with director Wendell Etherly – it arrived at being primarily ambient drones and synthesized sounds. Though these moody soundscapes worked beautifully in the film, they didn’t make the best solo listening experience. So, for the album, I added all of the piano back in! The tracks are in the order they appear in the film, and are all named for chess moves (the boy who drives the narrative is a competitive chess player). The album is available on my Bandcamp site. Thanks so much for supporting independent musicians....

Thanks to Debra Larson for the video footage! Enjoy!...

“southern cross” in the black lives matter film competition

This lovely film (after the fold) that I had the pleasure of scoring, back when I was an MFA candidate at Columbia College Chicago, is in the running to be a part of the #BlackLivesMatter Film Festival, sponsored by Shadow and Act, the Black and African Diaspora film blog. Directed by Kameishia Wooten, and featuring some singing from Mae Crosby and myself. Check it...
